Living with A Dead Person

Headline: Florida Woman Lived with Dead Mother for 6 Years, Police Say.

I'm always astonished at a story like this. I mean, who would live with a dead body. Regardless of who that person is to me, I cannot imagine doing that. That's just GA-ROSS. You either have to be insane, sick, goofy or plain desparate.

But how many times have I done the same thing? Sure not in the literal sense. But it's just as insane. Just as sick. Just as goofy. And just as plain desparate. 

Check this out:

"For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He ives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law but under grace." Romans 6v10-14

When I call on Jesus, I'm dead to sin. And when I give in to anger, lust, laziness, swearing, gossip, hate - I'm living with a dead person.

It's really quite astonishing to me. Why would I choose to live that way. Jesus has died to set me free - to be dead to sin and alive in Him.

But it's a daily process - to choose Jesus over me - the dead person who dies daily to myself.
